This is a guide that explains the role and detailed steps required to complete KYC and mint hPassport on Haven1

What is hPassport?

You can read more about the hPassport here and explore some of the applications here

The Role of KYC

Completing the identity verification process leads to the minting of the hPassport. This is crucial for engaging in any activity within Haven1. This process is critical for maintaining a secure environment, ensuring all participants are verified and legitimate.

Privacy and Data Security

  • Encrypted and Controlled: Your personal and identity data are securely encrypted and stored, ensuring that only you have access. You maintain complete control over your information, which is shared with others only with your explicit consent. This robust privacy measure allows you to engage in novel applications within Haven1, including those requiring verified identity data for regulatory compliance, without compromising your security.

  • On-chain anonymity: Your on-chain transactions are still very much anonymous. Your identity can not be linked to your wallet on-chain by anyone, including our identity verification partners. Any application built on Haven1 that needs your data would have to seek your consent before the application can obtain this information.

Selecting User Type

Upon starting the verification process, you will be asked to select your user type. This could be as an Individual or a Business.

  1. You should most likely be selecting 'Individual'

  2. If, however, you are running a business and your business wants to interact with the network, you should select Business

1. For Individuals

  • You should select your Account type as Individual

  • Nationality and Residence: First, declare your nationality and country of residence.

    • Note that we do not onboard users residing in certain high risk countries such as Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Myanmar, DPRK, DR Congo, Cuba

2. Facial Verification

  • Process: Follow the instructions on the screen to complete facial verification. This should be done by the account holder to ensure identity consistency.

  • Multiple Attempts: You might need to submit your facial verification multiple times if the initial attempts are unclear or incorrectly oriented.

  • Device Recommendation: While facial verification can be completed on a desktop, it is recommended to use a mobile device for a better experience. A QR code will be displayed on the desktop, which you can scan with your mobile device to proceed on mobile.

For Liveness, here are the instructions for optimizing attempts:

  1. Make sure you're in a room that's neither too dark nor too bright - spotlights that are too strong are counter-productive. The idea is for the technology to be able to see the three-dimensionality of the space you're in,

  2. Ideally, with nobody in the background, remove all accessories (glasses in particular).

  3. Avoid any reflections on your face, and keep your eyes facing the camera. Make sure you fill in the oval correctly throughout. You need to center your face correctly in the oval and keep your camera still as you move closer to the camera.

  4. Mobile works better than desktop

3. ID Document Verification

  • Document Selection: Choose the issuing country of your document and the type of document you will use for verification (e.g., National ID, Passport, Driver's license, Government Issued Residence Permit).

  • Photo Capture: Follow the prompts to capture clear photos of your ID document. Ensure the entire document is visible and well-lit.

4. Completion and Confirmation

  • Processing Time: The identity verification process typically takes less than an hour but could take up to 24 hours. You will receive a notification via email once your identity has been verified.

  • Issues and Resubmission: If there are any issues with your submission, such as blurry images or incomplete document visibility, you will be prompted to resubmit the necessary information.
